Our organization began in 1998 when the first Title V federal block grants for abstinence education were passed to the individual states. As one of the original abstinence education contractors with the State of Texas, we have been continually awarded this grant with the Texas Department of State Health Services since that time. With the award of a federal Community-Based Abstinence Education (CBAE) grant that began on October 1, 2007, of five years in length, that will allow us to continue to provide the abstinence message to rural West Central Texas youth.
Fisher County Rural Abstinence Education Coalition currently serves school districts in Callahan, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Mitchell, Scurry, Stonewall, and Taylor Counties of Texas and partner with several youth oriented community organizations, including Region XIV Education Service Center, to bring the abstinence message to the youth of the area.
